A friend and mail art cohort, Angie Cope, introduced me to a great website! At http://www.spoonflower.com/ you can turn your artwork into fabric, or gift wrap, or wallpaper, or decals! You can understand my immediate fascination with the idea, can’t you?
I uploaded a couple of the ICADs I’d created this week with fabulous results! Rainbow Zebra used a mirror image repeat: http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/2131942?view= and Textured Dots can be found here: http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/2130982. You have to click over to see the results.
Those designs began with these ICADs:
The templates are easy to use. You can share your designs publicly so that others can order them. Swatches (8 x 8 inches) are a mere $5 and yardage is reasonably priced for custom designs. Shipping is low. (I paid $1 to have a swatch and a fat quarter shipped.) Why not give it a whirl? The worst that can happen is that you don’t like what you see and then it’s back to the drawing board. Literally.
Let us know what you think, or share your fabric designs in the comments!
Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!
What a great idea! I’ll definitely check them out.
Ooh! And they have a giveaway! I think it’s my new favorite site.
Giveaway?! I didn’t see that! Going back for another look-see! 🙂
when the swatches make it to your house I will have to visit!
