Monday Morning Mail Art Call: Time and Clocks

This morning’s post is a quick one, but not without merit. A domestic mailing to break up the international calls I’ve been posting of late.

It is no wonder that this call caught my attention. I have been enthralled with time pieces ever since I can remember. The collage piece seen here was the first in a mail art series by yours truly, entitled False Faces. It went to France, I believe, back in 2012.

False Faces Front Sent to Val 2012

Theme: Time and Clocks

Comment: Anything that has to do with time and clocks

Info: Prefered size: 210x148cm or 148x105cm (postcard). Any medium, any technique. No returns.

Deadline: March 31, 2017

Send To:

Sequoia High School – ATTN: Mrs. Szydlowski – 1201 Brewster Ave. – Redwood City, CA 94062  USA

Thank you so much,

Megumi Swarthout

Lots of time left on this one… enough that you could wait to attend to it until after the holidays if you wish, but please do put this one on your calendar. Let’s show the students of the Sequoia High School some support in their endeavor.

It is unclear as to whether there will be an exhibition, but the deadline suggests there may be something in the works to coordinate with a spring art show. If I get any more info. I will update the post. In the meantime, I hope that someone involved with the project will see this blog post and comment accordingly.

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!

Monday Morning Mail Art Call: Mushrooms and Happiness

Happy Monday Morning!

It feels so good to be getting back into the routine.

This week, the offerings are both from Spain.

First, an international mail art call for Mushrooms of the World. It is fall where I live and wild mushrooms are everywhere. Last week, at a locally owned and operated restaurant, Scratch F&B, I ordered a delicious Pennsylvania Wild Mushroom Crostini plate for dinner. That might be why this one grabbed my attention. I have visions of whimsical mushrooms dancing through my head….

The second offering for today: Happiness. Who doesn’t need a little more happiness in their life. This call asks you to reflect on what happiness means to you. (Pharrell Williams’ song, Happy, is playing in my head now, mingling with the mushrooms!) Can you put your version of happiness on a 4×6 postcard? Antonia Mayol Castelló is hoping you’ll do just that by December 31st!

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!

P.S. If you are local to the Pittsburgh area, you might want to check out Scratch F&B. Here is the link to their site: http://www.scratchfoodbev.com/#splash

Monday Morning Mail Art Call: FeMail-XX Project

My sincere apologies to those who look forward to the MMMAC posts on Monday mornings. I have been overwhelmed the last several weeks and dropped the ball.

This week, I am attempting to return to our regularly scheduled programming.

A very dear mail art cohort, Sinclair Scripa, has taken a leap and ventured out into the wide world of specialized mail art projects. She has not seen the response she had hoped for and needs a boost. As I deem it a worthy pursuit, I am bringing you the details in hopes that you will help to make this project a success! Thanks in advance!

***Please note that the work submitted for this call will be featured at least TWO EXHIBITIONS beginning in August 2017.

http://femailxxproject.wixsite.com/femailxxproject/art-calls

Deadline: July 1, 2017 And since we’ve got so much time, you could submit multiple times! Spread the word!

A brief word about the project from the project coordinator, Sinclair Scripa: “I make poems and things from the anagrammatical use of the word WASTE. Women Art Scientist came from that. By Women Art Scientist,  I mean to say that we are women, using art in conceptual/non-commodified art practices as a scientific process to encounter the existential and to explore truth, reality and life’s mysteries. We are Women Art Scientists involved in a process of exploration, whose explorations leave documentations or evidence.”

Details as promised:
