Long Time, No See!

Yes, I know…

I’ve been MIA since before Thanksgiving.

No warning.

No excuses.

Life just got in the way of everything else.

My sincere apologies and heartfelt gratitude goes out to those of you who faithfully returned week after week, day after day, in search of a new post, or something that would explain my absence. Your presence was felt here, I assure you.

December is lost to 2014 and January has almost come and gone! I am continually amazed at the warp speed passage of time as it literally flies by!

Many of you have filled my mail box to overflowing these past few months. THANK YOU! You can’t possibly know how touched I was to receive your mail art and your Christmas and New Year’s wishes!

Normally, I would fill a blog post, or two, or ten with your correspondence. This time, I’m going to resist. No long blog-jam to share and say thank you, in a lame attempt to catch up… Instead, if it’s all the same to you, I’ll let the New Year begin to work here and start fresh. If I owe you mail, watch the post….

Nor will there be a post to update my MailArt 365 progress. If you thought the last ones were lengthy, a catch-up now would take forever to write and read. Instead, you can browse pics of my progress and that of other participating artists here: http://mailart365.blogspot.com/

My only dip back into 2014 is this… A HUGE THANK YOU!!! to all of the ladies who created pages in my Zetti-Style Glue Book as it made its way through the Round Robin. (You know who you are!) It has come home in grand style and I am delighted to have shared that journey with all of you!

The pictures simply don’t do it justice, but take a peek for yourselves…

Arriving in Style

Before the book went out, I created my own center spread. I had an idea that I didn't want to forget in the time my book was away. It did not disappoint.

Thank you, Everyone! The Zetti-Style Mini Glue Book Round Robin was a huge success!

The New Year has seen me dabbling in the studio, but not nearly as much as I might like. Here are a few of the things I’ve done…

This pair of earrings was created especially in support of my favorite Juke Joint, Wooley Bully's. Their drink chips are glow-in-the-dark guitar picks! I couldn't resist drilling them to create these!

Some of us are beginning a new journey this year, into a world of healing growth through art. This was my interpretation of our first project, Show of Hands.

That’s enough for one day, folks! Thanks again for sticking with me! It feels good to be back!

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!

Fall Swap: With One Stamp!

You might have seen my posts this summer about the With One Stamp postcard swap. Artists used a single rubber stamp of their choice to place an image on blank postcards and mailed them to the members in their group for completion.

An amazing collaborative effort, it was great fun! So much so, that we opted to take another shot at it before the holidays were upon us.

This is the image I sent out to the members of my group:

OneStampSept2014

She was one of a set of three. I thought she was sassy, mysterious and full of promise. I hoped she would inspire my partners to stretch their imagination. I wasn’t wrong about that. They came up with some splendid pieces…

Unfortunately, a piece of one of Terry’s feathers came off in transit, while Sandra’s card from Germany arrived without damage.

by Jackie Davidson and Veronica Fortune

Such contrast in these two pieces! A gypsy feel to Jackie’s and a “Boxy Lady” from Veronica.

by Tammar Stubblefield and Julia Jacques

by Tammar Stubblefield and Julia Jacques

Here, Tammar went with a Halloween-ish Witchy Woman and Julia went Vogue. Just imagine me with those competing tunes stuck in my head! (I relate most everything in my life either to song lyrics, commercial jingles, or movie quotes… doesn’t everyone?) The Eagles and Madonna were battling it out.

Think of it like this…

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

Raven hair and ruby lips
sparks fly from her finger tips

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

Echoed voices in the night
she’s a restless spirit on an endless flight

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

wooo hoo, witchy woman, see how high she flies
woo hoo, witchy woman she got the moon in her eye

Beauty’s where you find it
Not just where you bump and grind it
Soul is in the musical
That’s where I feel so beautiful
Magical, life’s a ball
So get up on the dance floor

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

She held me spellbound in the night
dancing shadows and firelight

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

crazy laughter in another
room and she drove herself to madness
with a silver spoon

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

woo hoo, witchy woman see how high she flies
woo hoo, witchy woman she got the moon in her eye

Greta Garbo, and Monroe… Grace Kelly; Harlow, Jean
Picture of a beauty queen… They had style, they had grace
Rita Hayworth gave good face
Lauren, Katherine, Lana too
Bette Davis, we love you

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

woo hoo, witchy woman see how high she flies
woo hoo, witchy woman she got the moon in her eye

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

Be honest, you could hear it, couldn’t you?

I’m sure that was more than any of you bargained for on this Monday morning, but there you have it… wrapped in a blanket of honesty, too much information!

Getting back on topic, I even tried my own hand at the image!

Miss Birdie Thanks You

Miss Birdie Thanks You

You might recognize this piece. I printed and mailed approximately thirty of these in appreciation of those who helped to celebrate my 100th blog post here at Trash Bubbles and Life’s Little Bits.

That’s all for today, folks! Bet you’re glad it’s over!

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!

P.S. This week, after this post went live, the final return for the image arrived in my mail box. Thought I should reunite her with her sisters. 😀

With One Stamp! (update)

The With One Stamp swap has come to an end. Having received all of the postcards, with the exception of the one I sent to Neha Luhar-Trice, I thought you might like to take a peek at the variety of designs the group created using the simple clock face image I shared.

If you are interested in reading the original post to learn more about this swap… https://trashbubblesandlifeslittlebits.wordpress.com/2014/07/26/with-one-stamp/

In order of their arrival in my mail box…

From what I have been able to gather, it seems that Neha Luhar-Trice did not receive my piece and therefore has been unable to return it.

Hope you enjoyed these interpretations of the image as much as I did.

With One Stamp!

A while ago, I joined a great group on facebook called The Studio- a thriving artist community. The folks there are friendly, talented and well… they’re pretty much amazing.

There are swaps and add and passes (or round robins) going on all the time. Inspiration is not short on supply, I assure you.

Although I had been yearning to jump in and participate for some time, it just wasn’t working out, until the announcement for ‘With One Stamp’ popped up!

The idea was intriguing. Participants were to be put into small groups and would send out a rubber stamped image, on a self-addressed 4×6 postcard, to each of the folks in their group. The idea was that each person who received your image was to use it as a jumping off point for creating a piece of art and would mail it back to you. In the end, you would get all of the cards you mailed out, but each would be uniquely designed. Loving any opportunity at a collaboration, I was in!

There were five artists in my group. The following pics show the cards as I received them, along with the photos of my completed artwork.

The image I sent out was a roman numeral clock face, stamped off to one side of the card. These are the two completed postcards that I received back…

Looking forward to receiving the final three interpretations.

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!
