Fall Swap: With One Stamp!

You might have seen my posts this summer about the With One Stamp postcard swap. Artists used a single rubber stamp of their choice to place an image on blank postcards and mailed them to the members in their group for completion.

An amazing collaborative effort, it was great fun! So much so, that we opted to take another shot at it before the holidays were upon us.

This is the image I sent out to the members of my group:

OneStampSept2014

She was one of a set of three. I thought she was sassy, mysterious and full of promise. I hoped she would inspire my partners to stretch their imagination. I wasn’t wrong about that. They came up with some splendid pieces…

Unfortunately, a piece of one of Terry’s feathers came off in transit, while Sandra’s card from Germany arrived without damage.

Such contrast in these two pieces! A gypsy feel to Jackie’s and a “Boxy Lady” from Veronica.

by Tammar Stubblefield and Julia Jacques

by Tammar Stubblefield and Julia Jacques

Here, Tammar went with a Halloween-ish Witchy Woman and Julia went Vogue. Just imagine me with those competing tunes stuck in my head! (I relate most everything in my life either to song lyrics, commercial jingles, or movie quotes… doesn’t everyone?) The Eagles and Madonna were battling it out.

Think of it like this…

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

Raven hair and ruby lips
sparks fly from her finger tips

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

Echoed voices in the night
she’s a restless spirit on an endless flight

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

wooo hoo, witchy woman, see how high she flies
woo hoo, witchy woman she got the moon in her eye

Beauty’s where you find it
Not just where you bump and grind it
Soul is in the musical
That’s where I feel so beautiful
Magical, life’s a ball
So get up on the dance floor

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

She held me spellbound in the night
dancing shadows and firelight

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

crazy laughter in another
room and she drove herself to madness
with a silver spoon

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

woo hoo, witchy woman see how high she flies
woo hoo, witchy woman she got the moon in her eye

Greta Garbo, and Monroe… Grace Kelly; Harlow, Jean
Picture of a beauty queen… They had style, they had grace
Rita Hayworth gave good face
Lauren, Katherine, Lana too
Bette Davis, we love you

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

woo hoo, witchy woman see how high she flies
woo hoo, witchy woman she got the moon in her eye

Strike a pose
Vogue, vogue, vogue

Be honest, you could hear it, couldn’t you?

I’m sure that was more than any of you bargained for on this Monday morning, but there you have it… wrapped in a blanket of honesty, too much information!

Getting back on topic, I even tried my own hand at the image!

Miss Birdie Thanks You

Miss Birdie Thanks You

You might recognize this piece. I printed and mailed approximately thirty of these in appreciation of those who helped to celebrate my 100th blog post here at Trash Bubbles and Life’s Little Bits.

That’s all for today, folks! Bet you’re glad it’s over!

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!

P.S. This week, after this post went live, the final return for the image arrived in my mail box. Thought I should reunite her with her sisters. 😀

Outbound Mail Art: Mail Art 365 Update

The summer has found me lagging in many areas. It’s a lazy time, summer. One just wants to languish.

Recently, I’ve been making a consorted effort to catch-up on my Mail Art 365 postings. I think you’ll agree that I’ve made tremendous headway.

Some of these may look familiar from earlier posts, others are new to the blog.

Enjoy!

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!

P.S. If I am estimating correctly, THIS IS MY 100TH BLOG POST!!! Everyone who comments will get a little something in the mail from me! 😀

Holy ICAD!

This summer has been a particularly hectic one, leaving me wishing that the ICAD challenge was a winter event.

Lagging far behind in both posting and creating ICADs, I’ll pick up here with Day 25 posting those finished pieces from my desk…

Day 25 FLY

Day 25 FLY

FLY was created with rubber stamps and ink, the large butterfly was attached using foam tape.

Day 26 Circles in Rotation

Day 26 Circles in Rotation

Watercolor circles provided a jumping off point for stamps and doodles in Circles in Rotation.

Day 27 This is Important

Day 27 This is Important

The hubby picked up a bag of odd savings stamps at a yard sale. I had been trying to figure out what to do with them. The colors of these prompted me to use them as a back drop for This is Important.

Day 28 Dream Sphere

Day 28 Dream Sphere

Playing with watercolors, I made a big circle and didn’t know what to do with it. I almost cut it out, but at the last second, opted to fill in around it with a complimentary color. I then stamped and doodled until the Dream Sphere felt finished.

Day 29 Blue Grid Bounce

Day 29 Blue Grid Bounce

Blue Grid Bounce used scraps cut from a quadrille index card and circles punched from a bumper sticker background. Sometimes, simple is best.

Day 30 Gold and Silver Red Wheels Turnin' I

Day 30 Gold and Silver Red Wheels Turnin’ I

Gold and Silver, Red Wheels Turnin’ is a two-piece set. I used painter’s tape to secure two index cards end to end and then layed in ink. When I thought I liked what I saw, I separated them and added stamped images and doodles.

The tissue separating layers of vinyl did not escape my clutches in Recyclable.

Ink and rubber stamps combined to create Jumping the Grid.

Day 33 Jumping the Grid

Short on time, but eager to create, washi tape gave me the ability to create the Washi Tape Blossom in under three minutes on a previously inked index card!

Day 34 Washi Tape Blossom

More quadrille scraps appear in Off the Grid.

Day 35 Off the Grid

Day 35 Off the Grid

Scraps from a previous endeavor were used to create Natural Elements.

Day 36 Natural Elements

Day 36 Natural Elements

A previously painted watercolor background became home to this Doodle Flower when I was short on time, but needed an outlet.

Ye Olde Sewing Room is a mixed media piece combining stamped images, stickers and washi tape among other media.

Day 38 Ye Olde Sewing Room

Day 38 Ye Olde Sewing Room

Again, a piece I’d inked previously provides the background for some rubber stamp play and doodling. Can you guess what song was trapped in my head while I worked?

Day 39 HAPPY!

Day 39 HAPPY!

Don’t worry, Be HAPPY!

Off and running for some more summertime fun… Hoping to get to more ICADs soon!

Happy Trash to you, until we meet again!
